WILMINGTON, Ohio – A Clinton County grand jury has indicted Gloria Frazier, 50, of Wilmington, for theft in connection with funds raised for the Wilmington Youth Football Team.

According to a news release, Frazier faces a fifth-degree felony theft charge after an investigation by the Wilmington Police Department. Frazier oversaw the fundraiser and is accused of misappropriating approximately $2,902 raised from cookie dough sales.

The children sold the cookie dough to raise money for football equipment, but 97 orders were left unfulfilled, and the funds have not been recovered.

“It’s always concerning when funds are stolen, but it’s especially troubling when children work hard to raise money for their team, only to be let down,” said Officer Logan Schroer, who led the investigation for the Wilmington Police Department.

The alleged theft occurred between August and November 2023. Multiple attempts by the football program’s organizers and law enforcement to reach Frazier were unsuccessful, and the money was never returned, according to the release.

“Stealing from a fundraiser intended to benefit children in our community is not only a financial crime, but a serious breach of trust that has impacted the kids, their families and the entire football program. This indictment shows our commitment to holding those responsible for such acts accountable,” said Clinton County Prosecutor Brian Shidaker in the release.

Frazier faces up to one year in prison and potential fines if convicted. The case will now proceed in the Clinton County Court of Common Pleas.
