The Clinton-Massie Corner

Welcome to “The Clinton-Massie Corner,” a bi-monthly column penned by Clinton-Massie Superintendent, David Moss. It aims to provide a deeper understanding of our district’s journey, celebrate our successes, and keep our community informed and engaged. Whether you’re a parent, student, staff member, or community supporter, “The Clinton-Massie Corner” is your window into the heart of our district’s story. We will focus each article on communication, connection, and celebration. Let’s get started!

Communication

Clinton-Massie Middle School is excited to announce the return of its third-annual Monster Mash and Dash 5K Walk/Run and Fun Run. Scheduled for Oct. 19, this festive event invites participants to don their favorite costumes while enjoying a scenic course that winds through the school’s picturesque campus. The 5K race will kick off at 4 p.m., followed by the Fun Run, which is designed for younger participants. Awards will be presented immediately after the Fun Run, and a Trunk or Treat event will commence at 6:30 p.m., providing a delightful experience for all attendees. Participants can compete for prizes in various age categories: 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over, along with a special Fun Run category for those 6 and under, featuring a one-lap track run. Registration includes access to the Trunk or Treat event, and those who wish to receive a t-shirt must register by Oct. 5. Online registration is available at https://findarace.com/us/events/monster-mash-and-dash-5k-walk-run-and-fun-run. Join the fun and make this Halloween season memorable with a dash of fitness and community spirit!

Connection

The Clinton County Career Exploration Fair has become a highlight of the Clinton County Workforce Collaborative (CCWC) each year. This engaging, dynamic event offers high school students in Clinton County the opportunity to connect with local employers and learn about various career paths. Unlike traditional job fairs, this event isn’t about hiring; instead, it’s a hands-on exploration where students can experience activities like virtually landing a plane, welding steel, or drawing synthetic blood from a test dummy. We’re thrilled that our high school will be participating this Wednesday morning, and we extend our gratitude to First State Bank for supporting transportation costs.

Celebration

The girls tennis team, under the guidance of Coach Julie Kirby, has achieved a remarkable feat by winning the American division of the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference (SBAAC) for the third consecutive year. The team’s roster includes standout players Jenny Anderson, Dakota Cartner, Noel Gasaway, Brylie Green, Marla Jones, Lilly Logsdon, Alyssa Lorenz, Paige Overweiser, Ellie Smith, and Addison Swope. Over the past three seasons, the team showcased their dominance in the league with an impressive record of 29 wins and just one loss in conference play, culminating in an overall record of 49 wins and four losses. Congratulations to the entire team on this outstanding achievement!
