EC/Great Oaks FFA Chapter Soil Teams qualify for state soils

The East Clinton Great Oaks FFA Chapter soil teams qualified for the state soils competition by placing well at Districts. The agricultural team placed first overall in the district. The team consisted of Sydney Beiting, Jacob George, Samantha Woodruff, Wade Smith, Carson Carey and Ben Cline. Sydney Beiting was first overall. Jacob George was second, Wade Smith was fifth, and Carson Carey was sixth out of 110 individuals. The Urban team was fourth at Districts. The team consisted of Taylynn Spurlock, Kaiden Roth, Aiden McQueen, Ethan Mobley, Marli Pirman, Jamison Mathews and Avery Miller. Kaiden Roth was the highest on the team, placing ninth. Two middle school students competed in the middle school Urban Contest: Dereck Mathews and Kaleb Taylor. Thank you to Ellis Farms, Warren McCarren, Tom Beiting, Streber Farms, and Wilmington College for digging pits for the practices so far.
