The public is invited to view the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History’s “Outbreak: Epidemics in a Connected World” exhibition on Oct. 17 at East Clinton Middle School Library at 174 Larrick Road in Sabina.

East Clinton High School’s infectious disease students, in conjunction with the Clinton County Health District and Ketom Homes, will host the exhibition which highlights how pathogens can spread to people from wildlife and livestock, why some outbreaks become epidemics and how human, animal and environmental health are connected. The exhibition covers topics such as public health and disease tracking and features pathogens such as rabies, COVID-19 and others.

The exhibition also includes student-designed exhibit panels, interactive videos and games, and virus and bacteria models. On Thursday, Oct. 17, the exhibit will be open to the public in the evening and feature staff from the Clinton County Health District on site to answer questions and provide resources, like vaccines and other public health information.

All visitors are welcome free and school groups are invited to visit during the school day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 14 until Oct. 17. Reservations can be made via email. Please schedule 30 to 45 minutes to make it through the entire exhibit.
