A delegation of students and teachers from Bosnia-Herzegonvina discussed peace and nonviolence with Wilmington College students in a Global Issues class during a visit to the WC campus on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The group has an interest in learning about democracy, conflict mediation and civic engagement from their American hosts.

The 18 students and three teachers come from Livno, Brcko and Zenica in the Balkans and are associated with the Bosnia Youth Leadership Program. Their American tour is part of a culturally immersive experience funded by the U.S. State Department through an agreement between the city of Dayton and the Sarajevo embassy.

Their two weeks in Ohio include not only a visit to WC and its Peace Resource Center but also stops at Dayton area schools, state government facilities in Columbus and the Dayton Peace Museum, all before visiting New York City on their way home.
