BBK Final: Newport (Ky.) 71, Clinton-Massie 56

NEWPORT, Ky. — Despite a strong shooting night, Clinton-Massie was defeated by Newport 71-56 Tuesday night in non-league boys basketball.

The Falcons (8-14) end the season with four losses in their last five games. They’ll face Wyoming 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 in a Div. II sectional tournament game at Mason Middle School.

Clinton-Massie was a blistering 22 for 36 from the field. Jerry Trout, the leading scorer with 17 points, was 6 for 11 from the field while Miles Theetge made all four of his shots.

The Falcons were seven for 15 from beyond the three-point arc and made off five of their free throws.

But Newport overcame Massie’s hot shooting and steadily increased its lead throughout the game.
