WILMINGTON — This morning, the Clinton County Commissioners presented a proclamation declaring August 2024 as Child Support Awareness Month. The proclamation emphasizes the importance of economic stability for the well-being of Clinton County’s children and families.

The proclamation acknowledges the critical role that parents play in fulfilling the needs of their children and commends those who are committed to supporting their families. It highlights the importance of fiscal responsibility in strengthening individuals and families, which in turn promotes the safety and well-being of children. This, the proclamation notes, provides families with opportunities to enhance their children’s future.

Significant praise was given to the Clinton County Job and Family Services Child Support Unit. The commissioners recognized the leadership of this unit in brightening the lives of many children in the county. Currently, there are approximately 3,000 child support cases in Clinton County, with more than $500,000 collected monthly. The county has consistently maintained a collection rate of over 70% on current support orders, according to officials.

The proclamation also acknowledged the collaborative efforts required to provide an effective Child Support Program, including the involvement of courts, government agencies, legislators, and parents. It stresses that “support is key” and emphasizes the county’s commitment to ensuring that all Ohio children receive the financial support they deserve.

The commissioners urged all residents to recognize the importance of child support and the positive impact it has on the lives of children and the community as a whole.
