WILMINGTON — After forcing a decisive five set with a thrilling 26-24 win, Wilmington fell to Hillsboro 18-25, 25-14, 10-25, 26-24, 13-15 Wednesday night in non-league volleyball at Fred Summers Court.

The Hurricane (3-3 on the year) fell behind 2-1 when they lost the third set 25-10. But WHS fought back to grab the fourth set and then went down to the wire in the fifth set before coming up short 15-13.

“Lost a heartbreaker,” WHS head coach Stephanie Reveal said. “We just can’t get off the roller coaster. We play great one set and then the mistakes just find us, we start tipping the ball and not wanting to swing. I’m proud of the fight my girls had though.”

WHS leaders were Layla Reynolds with 51 passes and 14 digs, Miya Nance with 14 digs and three blocks, Aidynne Tippett with 38 assists and three blocks, asnd Aunestie Hudson with 10 kills
