BATAVIA — Coach Doug Cooper won his 100th career conference tennis match Tuesday as Wilmington defeated Batavia 5-0 in SBAAC American Division action on the BHS courts.
The Hurricane (5-4) won three extremely close matches.
Jenna Pletcher and Kiley Comberger won an 11-9 third set at second doubles in a 7-5, 5-7, 11-9 win and Reagan Henry won a 7-0 tiebreak in the second set of a 6-1, 7-6 (7-0) win.
Sofia Castillo won her second singles match, rallying from 1-5 in the first set to gain the measure of Macy McHenry 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
“That’s what she does,” Cooper said of Castillo. “She’s so mentally tough.”
Layna Holmes avenged a loss to Paige Collier earlier in the year with a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles.
