Wayback Wednesday: Early 1900s county officials

A photo of county officials in front of the old Probate Court building which was located across the street from the old News Journal office on South Street downtown and was torn down to make way for the current courthouse. At the time, the Probate Court, recorder’s and surveyor’s office were located in the building. Those in the photo, from left to right, front row, Miss Minnie Ball (deputy Probate Court) and Miss Fannie Howland (clerk); back row, Al Brown (county surveyor), Wilbur West (clerk in recorder’s office), Will Dabe (deputy recorder), John West (recorder), L.J. Walker (lawyer), J.S. Kimbrought (probate judge).
