Astros edge Wildcats by 1 stroke at Elks 797 GC (Update EC scores)

WILMINGTON — East Clinton edged Blanchester by one stroke Thursday in a boys golf match here at the Elks 797 Golf Club.

The Astros had a 189 and the Wildcats came in with 190.

Evan Malott of BHS was the match medalist with a 42 on the par 35 2,942-yard front nine.

The Astros posted four scores in the 40s with Mitchell Ellis leading the way with a 45. Wade Smith and Kaiden Roth both had 49s.

Gabe Stewart posted his career best round with a 46.

“He has improved and continues to work hard,” EC coach Thomas Sodini said. “East Clinton continues to show signs of improvement.”

Also for Blanchester, Cole Mueller had a 44 and Brian White carded a 51. Eason Jones and Logan Waldron both had 53s.
