MIDDLETOWN — Madison scored the final 24 points of the game Friday and defeated Blanchester 38-14.
The Wildcats (0-3) and Mohawks (2-1) were tied 14-14 late in the first half but Madison scored later in the half to go up 21-14 and never looked back.
The Mohawks recovered an onside kick to start the second half and turned that into another touchdown at 9:55, 28-14. After a field goal made it 31-14, the Mohawks returned a punt for a touchdown early in the fourth for the final points of the night.
Blanchester scored a pair of touchdowns in the first half thanks to big passes by Brayden Behymer. After a Madison 86 yard touchdown run, BHS got to the 1 on a 54 pass from Behymer to Zack Musselman.
Sammy Roush converted that with a short TD run with 2:33 to play in the period.
After Madison scored on the first play of the second quarter, Blanchester responded with Behymer hooking up with Samuel McEntire for both the touchdown and two-point conversion to tie the game, 14-14, with 2:34 to play in the half.
Madison scored 29 seconds late to regain the lead and they never fell behind again.
