WILMINGTON — After a hard-fought first set and a win in the second, Wilmington lost the next two sets to Waynesville and the match 26-28, 25-13, 13-25, 16-25 Monday at Fred Summers Court.
The Hurricane is 4-7 on the year while the Spartans move to 7-4.
“Their libero is great at reading the ball and picking up everything,” WHS coach Stephanie Reveal said. “Set 1, even though we lost it, we hit the open spots and then in set 2 we executed and did the little things. I wish these girls believed in their abilities like (coach) Jamie (Bryant) and I do.”
Aidynne Tippett picked up the 1,000th career assist in the match.
“She works hard and is so coachable,” Reveal said.
WHS leaders against the Spartans were Miya Nance with 13 kills, Tippette with 23 assists and Layla Reynolds with 14 digs.
