Second half explosion propels BHS girls to 4-0 win

NORWOOD — A three-goal explosion in the second half propelled Blanchester to a 4-0 win Tuesday at Norwood in non-league girls soccer action.

“We are playing some of our best soccer right now as a team,” Blanchester coach Kyle Hamilton said. “Our defense has been tough and smart, our midfield controls possession, and our offense has been finishing on some great passes.”

The Wildcats are 7-5 on the year.

Ava Lanham had six saves in goal for the BHS shutout, the fifth of the season on the road.

“Norwood was a tough team,” said Hamilton. “They had some injuries and weren’t at full strength, but our girls stayed focused on our team goal of getting the win and the shutout.”

Evelyn Kohler took a Reece Ledford pass and started the scoring in the first half. The Wildcats led 1-0 at the intermission.

Just 12 seconds into the second half, Laylla Sears scored to make it 2-0 BHS then Sears fed Jaida Jones for another goal and a 3-0 Wildcats lead. Sears scored her second goal of the game with an Addy Lewis assist to finish the scoring.
