Wayback Wednesday: A familiar landmark from above

0

This is one of those “once you know it, you see it” landmarks. This is an early photo of the beginning of a familiar landmark in Clinton County, a high-traffic area that is unmistakable once you realize what it is. This photo is from 1949 or thereabouts at the beginning stages of this Wilmington venue. Had enough time to think about it? This is J.W. Denver Williams Jr. Memorial Park in Wilmington. On the left side, around a large gathering of trees, is Rombach Avenue which cuts across the top third of the image. The entrance to the park leads to the familiar loop which points toward the pond in the bottom third of the image.
