MT. ORAB — Clinton-Massie ran for 214 yards and four touchdowns in the second half Friday in a 42-14 win over Western Brown at LaRosa’s Field.
The victory sets up an SBAAC American Division showdown with Batavia next week. Both teams are 3-0 in the division.
The matchup for division supremacy Friday at Frank Irelan Field is an unlikely pairing. While the Falcons have made the playoffs 22 straight seasons, the Bulldogs had won just eight games in the previous five seasons.
But Batavia sports a 7-1 record this year and is clearly a force to be reckoned with in Southwest Ohio.
The showdown, though, was nearly derailed by a pesky Western Brown squad buoyed by a large Homecoming crowd.
The Falcons went up 14-0 on two Kaden Zantene touchdown strikes to Brady Russell (34 yards) and Jack Elkins (53 yards). Western Brown made it 14-7 at the break and had the momentum.
After rushing for 79 yards on 22 attempts in the first half, the Falcons strapped up their offense to the five road graders up front and ran their way to victory. Massie ran 30 times for 214 yards in the second half with Brady Dillion and Peyton Warren scoring two touchdowns each.
Andrew Smith had two key second half interceptions and Barron Phipps deftly recovered an onside kick after the Broncos only score of the second half.
