WILLIAMSBURG — Blanchester battled Williamsburg to a 1-1 tie Monday in the SBAAC National Division girls soccer finale.

“I’m really proud of our girls for earning the tie against the No. 2 (seeded) Div. 5 team in Cincinnati,” BHS coach Kyle Hamilton said. “This was some of our best soccer in the last month or so. Williamsburg is a tough, well-coached team and I hope our play carries on in the tournament.”

Blanchester (8-7-2 overall, 3-5-2 in National) will play at No. 3 seed Fayetteville 7 p.m. Thursday in the sectional tournament.

After a scoreless first half, Blanchester took a 1-0 lead when Laylla Sears scored on a penalty kick. Williamsburg (11-4-2, 6-2-2) tied the match with 13 minutes left on a PK as well.

“Both teams played great,” Hamilton added.

Karlee Tipton had 11 saves in goal for Blanchester.
