The song on TV asks, “Whatcha Gonna Do When They Come for You?” A presidential candidate is running a campaign of revenge and retribution against his perceived enemies. He has said that the vermin must be rooted out. He claims the media is the enemy of the people. He promises to deport immigrants and hold his enemies in detention camps. How would this logistically work — by using the local chief of police, sheriff or national guard?

How would it be determined who these people are? Would we be encouraged to inform on our friends and neighbors? What becomes of the property and assets of those who are deported or detained? What are the remaining family members to do to live?

He has said he will implement a Muslim ban. He doesn’t like blacks, Asians, Jews, and gays. After these are detained, who are next? This could eventually trickle down to the average citizen who disagrees with him. Ask Mike Pence and Michael Cohen. He has also said he will suspend the Constitution and ignore court rulings.

What type of government do we want? Do we want to be governed by someone who believes in the Constitution and the rule of law, or do we want to be ruled by a dictator? It’s up to us as voters. We get the government we vote for.
