The City of Wilmington must perform emergency repairs to water infrastructure located at the intersection of Nelson Avenue and West Main Street, according to Michael Crowe, the director of public service.

The intersection of Nelson Avenue and West Main Street will be closed. Additional partial road closures and detours are in place at adjacent intersections: Park Drive and West Main Street, West Main Street and Wayne Avenue, Nelson Avenue and West Locust, and Nelson Avenue and Ledex Drive.

The repairs are taking place today and the intersection will reopen on Friday, Oct. 25, weather permitting. Residents and businesses in the area may experience disruption in water service.

The City of Wilmington asks that all motorists be patient, reduce speed, and exercise added caution when traveling near this work zone. Questions regarding the water infrastructure repair may be directed to the Water Department, (937) 382-3614.
