Sugar Grove Cemetery fall cleanup to begin Friday, Nov. 1

WILMINGTON, Ohio — Sugar Grove Cemetery will be conducting its annual fall cleanup beginning Friday, Nov. 1 and concluding Thursday, Nov. 14.

While flower arrangements and other grave decorations are a popular way to honor friends and family that have passed, those items can become weathered and worn. Staff will be removing and disposing of all decorations on and around headstones, regardless of season or condition, unless individuals have received written permission to leave decorations in place.

Individuals are encouraged to remove any decorations they wish to keep prior to Nov. 1. Items removed from gravesites will not be replaced or available for pickup. Decorations can be placed again on Nov. 15.

“The City of Wilmington appreciates the public’s assistance as staff continually works to beautify Sugar Grove Cemetery,” the news release states. “Biannual cleanups allow staff to complete thorough maintenance and preserve the integrity of the burial sites.”

If you have questions regarding the fall cleanup schedule or the grave decorating policies, please contact the Sugar Grove Cemetery Office at (937) 382-6509.
