Brian Baldridge, the director of agriculture for the state of Ohio, addresses fair-goers who are getting ready to watch the market lamb show at the Clinton County Fair on Wednesday.

Shumaker named beef showman of showmen

Hayden Shumaker (far left) was named the best senior showman and showman of showmen at the Clinton County Jr. Fair beef showmanship contest. Hayden also won showman of showmen in sheep, so she will be representing the sheep barn at the Showman of Showmen sweepstakes. Taylor Barton will represent the cattle barn in the sweepstakes contest. Other winners at the beef showmanship show were intermediate winner Carson Barton, junior winner Lucas Cochran, beginner winner Henslee Shumaker, and beef ambassador Bella Earley.

Market turkey show winners named

On Monday, the Clinton County Jr. Fair market turkey show and showmanship competitions were held. The grand champion overall turkey went to Logan Fugate.

New announcer stand completed in time for fair

The Clinton County Commissioners, along with Fair Board members, inspect the new announcer stand at the Clinton County Fairgrounds on Monday morning. Funded by the commissioners and completed just in time for the fair, the new stand is larger and offers improved viewing angles compared to the old one. While some interior work remains, Fair Board members emphasized its necessity and appreciated the much-needed upgrade. The project began discussions in November/December of 2023. “We really appreciate what the commissioners have done for us,” said a Fair Board member.

Goat showmanship winners named Monday

Overall goat showmanship champions were named Monday at the Clinton County Jr. Fair: (left to right) Prince for the Day, 2024 Jr Fair Queen Anna Davis, 2024 Goat Ambassador Isabelle Coates, Senior champion goat showman and Overall Showman of Showman Elizabeth Schiff, Intermediate Champion Goat Showman Mackenzie Strong, Junior Champion Goat Showman Millie Snively, Beginner Champion Goat Showman Larkyn Woodruff, and show judge Madison Schumacher. Elizabeth Schiff will represent goats in the showmanship sweepstakes on Friday.
