House panel OKs voting law rewrite, 60% ballot question

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Over the strenuous objections of voting rights groups, Ohio House Republicans advanced two proposals Monday that would add a host of new restrictions to voting and place an issue on next year’s ballot that calls for requiring a 60% supermajority to pass future constitutional amendments.

Local public defender speaks to Rotary Club

Shawn Crawford, Clinton County Assistant Public Defender, spoke to the Wilmington Rotary Club, which meets on Tuesdays at noon at the CMH meeting room. Crawford said with a public defender and supporting staff, this office provides legal assistance to indigent clients who are accused of a criminal offense and who are at risk of going to jail. Also, the public defender handles felony cases, misdemeanors, preliminary hearings, extraditions, and juvenile cases. Additionally, they handle some Children’s Services cases and some child support contempt cases. A blast from Christmas past

Wilmington City Schools Transportation Department brought “A Blast from Christmas Past” to the HoliDazzle Parade in downtown Wilmington last Saturday. Bus 33 dressed up as Frosty the Snowman while being driven by DoriAnn Allen. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer was Trisha Carrel (bus 1 driver), the Grinch was Darrell Little (mechanic), Hocus Pocus Rabbit was Krystal Polakovics (van #3 driver), Heat Miser was Marcus Wheeler (maintenance supervisor) and Snow Miser was AJ Allen (DoriAnn’s son).
