The team of Clayton Amburgy and Austin Faucett won the inaugural Community Pickleball Tournament Saturday on the Wilmington High School tennis courts.

Amburgy and Faucett, the Chefs in the Kitchen team, defeated the Dudes, Marc Sodini and David Becker.

The third place team was Southside, the duo of Josh Schlabach and Terri Schlabach.

There were 16 teams in the event. The tournament benefits the WHS girls basketball program.

“It was a community feel with players from East Clinton, Clinton-Massie, Wilmington College and Wilmington High School,” said Judah Jamiel, the tournament organizer and head coach of the Wilmington High School girls basketball team.

The tournament was sponsored by Rome Jewelers, Drayer Physical Therapy and the Harpin Family. Members of the girls basketball team that volunteered their time, Jamiel said, were Aidynne Tippett, Addison Martin, Miya Nance, Auna Hudson, Alli Bayless, Ki Cole, Brynn Conley. Also, basketball coaches Bourke Greene, Gary Sheldon and Carlos Roberts helped.
