ADAMS TOWNSHIP — The Clinton-Massie school board has narrowed the search for a new superintendent to two candidates, both of whom are administrators at school districts in Clinton County.

The two candidates who will take part in a third round of interviews are Natalie Harmeling and Matt Baker.

Harmeling coordinates special education and pupil services for Wilmington City Schools (WCS), and formerly was an elementary school principal in the WCS district. Baker is the principal of East Clinton High School.

The Clinton-Massie Board of Education conducted second-round interviews with Baker, Harmeling and Greg Grove. Grove formerly was a principal in the Clinton-Massie school district, and was a candidate in the Republican Primary last week for a Clinton County commissioner seat won by Brenda Woods.

The Clinton-Massie superintendent search committee — comprised of the school board, four staff representatives, Interim Superintendent Joe Scholler and district Treasurer Tracy Parker — participated in a review of 22 applicants, and narrowed down the applicant pool to six candidates for first-round interviews, stated a news release from board President Jeremy Lamb.

“To summarize, the CM board is still in the interview process and we have narrowed the search down to two potential candidates. The CM board is taking the time needed to ensure a robust process and to ensure that we make decisions that are in the best interest of our students, staff, and community stakeholders,” the release reads.

Staff members who have participated in the search process are Aaron Seewer, Judy Sternsher, Stephen Ford and Joe Hollon.
