WILMINGTON — Wilmington College’s choral groups, the College Chorale and College-Community Chorus, will present their annual Winter Holiday Concert Sunday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.

The event is free and open to the public.

The College Chorale, under the direction of Gina Beck, will open the concert with arrangements of carols, traditional spirituals and popular Christmas songs including “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Several soloists will be featured.

The College-Community Chorus, conducted by Elizabeth Haskins and accompanied on piano by Eunhye Lee, will perform a program titled Mary in honor of the mother of Jesus Christ.

The repertoire includes “Breath of Heaven” by Amy Grant and Chris Eaton and “Oh Mary, Don’t You Weep, Don’t You Mourn,” a spiritual arranged by Moses Hogan. Next on the program, the Women’s Ensemble will perform “Mary, Did You Know” by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene.

It is followed by the Christmas spiritual, “Mary Had a Baby,” arranged by Sam Batt Owens, and the Chorus’ rendition of “As Dew in Aprille” from Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony Of Carols. The next two pieces are two settings of “Ave Maria,” one by Franz Schubert and sung by tenor Gene Ford, and the second is Franz Biebl’s work for double choir and soloists. The Chorus will conclude the concert with a joyful folk carol from Trinidad, “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy,” arranged by Andre Thomas.

Choral soloists in order of appearance are: Tina Dell, Karen Kratzer, Lori Ann Scott, Haleigh Lovett, Terri Valentine, Stuart Lohrum, Phillip Fay, Tricia Heyes, Gwen Bogan, Lindsay Stanley and Andi Bell.
