Churches package over 27,000 meals

WILMINGTON — Faith Lutheran Church of Wilmington recently hosted a food packaging event as 101 people helped with set-up, packaging and clean-up. Representatives came from Peace Lutheran, Hillsboro; St. Paul Lutheran, Lynchburg; Peace Lutheran, Arnheim; Wilmington High School’s Interact Club; a few friends of Faith Lutheran Church; and Faith Lutheran Church members.

The meals consisted of protein-enriched macaroni and cheese.

Within two hours, 129 boxes were packed, with each box containing 36 packages, and each package containing six meals for a grand total of 27,864 meals packaged.

The meals packed will be distributed through food pantries at Faith Lutheran Church in Wilmington and in Hillsboro, Lynchburg, Arnheim/Georgetown and Northern Kentucky Hunger Relief, Inc.

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church at 421 E. Vine St. in Wilmington is a member of the Southern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
