CCSO investigates thefts, threats and suspicious vehicles

WILMINGTON — The following information comes from incident reports provided by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. All those arrested are presumed innocent until possibly proven guilty in court.

The sheriff’s office recently received the following reports:

• At 12:19 a.m. on Dec. 31, a deputy located a suspicious vehicle hidden at a residence on Wilson Road in Wilmington. According to the report, the deputy located two males and a female in the vehicle and also allegedly located narcotics and paraphernalia. This included a plastic bag with paper with powder, and vegetation, and another plastic bag with vegetation.

• At 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 31, deputies responded to the 2800 block of Hales Branch in Midland in reference to a theft of two bicycles by two juveniles. According to the report, one juvenile was released and the other was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center for multiple charges.

• A deputy was dispatched to a gas station on State Route 68 North at 6:42 p.m. on Dec. 31 on a report of a male subject attempting to use a counterfeit bill.

• At 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, deputies found a male suspect in the process of injecting what he stated was heroin, at the 300 block of East Locust Street in Wilmington. According to the report, the items were confiscated and he was released. This case is pending lab results.

• At midnight on Jan. 2, the Sheriff’s Office made contact with a 26-year-old New Vienna woman who advised that two female subjects had been sending her threatening Facebook and text messages. The victim told authorities that she asked them to stop but stated that they continued to harass her.

• At 9:55 p.m. on Jan. 2, deputies received a report of a theft that took place at the 1-99 block of South Street in Clarksville. According to the report, an unknown suspect entered a shed behind the residence between Dec. 31 and Jan. 2. Among the items listed as stolen included two Ford Ranger rims, three antique fishing poles, a circular saw with case, and a red open-top tool box which had 30 wrenches, 15 screwdrivers, and various sockets.

• A deputy was dispatched to the 1800 block of Frazier Road in Midland at 6 a.m. on Jan. 2 on a theft report. According to the report, a 55-year-old resident told authorities his drill set and nail gun were taken. The victim stated he did not know who may have stolen the items.

• At 9:56 a.m. on Jan. 4, police were dispatched to the 3100 block of New Burlington Road in Wilmington in reference to several vehicles left on the property that the homeowner wanted removed.

• A Sheriff’s deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a red light at Airborne Road and Progress Way, at 3:52 a.m. on Jan. 5. According to the report, the driver was cited for the red light and after further investigation, the passenger was in possession of possible drugs and drug paraphernalia. The case is pending lab results, according to the report.

•At 9:29 p.m. on Jan. 5, deputies filed a report that took place on Jan. 1 between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m at the 1-99 block of Nicely Road in Midland. According to the report, a 57-year-old male resident told authorities that an unknown person, driving a newer black Cadillac was seen backing out quickly from his shed. Shortly after, the victim realized that items were missing from the shed. These items include a tile saw, and two rims in white boxes. The report indicates that the suspected car was followed by a full-size white Cadillac and that it was seen by his neighbor.

• At 1:16 a.m. on Dec. 6, authorities performed a traffic stop on U.S. 68 South in Blanchester for one brake light, and upon stopping the vehicle the deputy found it occupied by four subjects. One subject was suffering from a large laceration on his hand, and the subject was being transported to the hospital. The report indicates that narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia were located in the vehicle.

• At 2:53 p.m. on Jan. 7, deputies responded to the 700 block of Todd’s Ridge Road in Wilmington on a theft report. Authorities made contact with a female subject who told them that her handyman’s girlfriend allegedly pawned one of her diamond rings.

•At 6:50 a.m. on Jan. 8, deputies responded to the 1-99 block of Pearl Street in New Vienna in reference to a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was located shortly after at a residence in the village, according to the report.

• At 5:27 p.m. on Jan. 10, deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Sycamore Road in Midland for a report of a domestic dispute.

Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested or charged the following people:

• Charles Harris, Jr., 47, of Washington Court House, was arrested for one count of alleged domestic violence and one count of alleged of criminal damaging or endangering. According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the 2900 block of Martinsville Road in Martinsville in reference to a dispute at 4:10 a.m. on Jan. 8. The report indicates that Harris allegedly struck a 44-year-old live-in girlfriend in the face and made verbal threats to burn her house down. He also allegedly caused damage to her vehicle and the front door of the residence. He fled the scene and was later apprehended and taken to the Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.
