Grateful for Streamkeepers’ work

Clinton County Streamkeepers, as reported recently in the News Journal, is doing valuable work in monitoring the condition of county streams. The headline is misleading, however, in stating that “Most city streams [are] in good condition.” In fact, the report states that Lytle Creek, as it flows through Wilmington, supports very little aquatic life in the form of macroinvertebrates. This suggests the presence of toxic materials in the stream. I thank Streamkeepers for its diligence, and hope it will continue to monitor the streams in Clinton County. We can’t fix what we don’t know about.
