BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester tennis team opened its 2016 season Monday with a 5-0 loss to New Richmond on the BHS courts.

Blanchester has six new starters among the seven lineup slots while New Richmond returns all seven starters, BHS coach Scott Shepard said.

New Richmond is the defending Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference American Division champion.

“All in all, we are extremely pleased,” Shepard said. “We gained valuable match experience.”

Matt Burden and Jacob Miller lost in the first two singles positions for Blanchester but Shepard said “both Matt and Jacob lost to extremely talented and experienced players.”
