OWENSVILLE — For the second straight game, the Blanchester softball team played error-free on defense and registered a 7-2 win over Clermont Northeastern in Southern Buckeye Conference National Division action.
The Ladycats are now 7-7 overall and 4-2 in the league.
Maddie Curless (6-4) scattered seven hits in picking up the pitching victory. She struck out five.
“Maddie really battled through some tough situations,” BHS coach Jamey Grogg said. “CNE did a nice job of putting the bat on the ball or being patient and drawing a walk. In the end, we made the plays we needed to.”
Kassidy Abney had a three-run double in the fourth to break open a close game. Dakota Demitt had a two-run single in the second to get the scoring underway.
Curless homered and Hannah Mann had two hits and scored a run. Rachael Doyle, Shayla Sicurella and Savana Greene all scored a run for BHS.
“Tonight we had big hits when it mattered,” said Grogg.
